Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a created intelligence that resembles the human or nature (animal, birds, insects, etc.) intelligence. The AI programs were created to do tasks that a human can do by using automated programmes or mechanism and advance computer hardware.
For example, the AI programs can do a better job than human in some areas such as scheduling, finding the shortest paths, optimization and even in games. The AlphaGo, AI developed by Google had beaten the world`s best Go player. The OpenAI, which is developed by Elon Musk-backed start-up, had beaten the world`s best Dota 2 players in competitive eSport. Meanwhile, World chess player Gary Kasparov was also beaten by AI in Chess games.
How does the AI do all this? The AI was programmed to learn from data or input known as training. The AI programs can learn day and night without any rest, and they can also learn by challenging a copy of themselves like in the case of AlphaGo. The AI programs are also good at learning from big data.
Nowadays, the research on AI is progressing quite fast. Several companies such as Tesla and Google had made huge efforts to build an autonomous car. From what I heard, even Uber is planning to have driverless transportation mechanism in the future. So, in the future, bye-bye to all these drivers. Several big names had commented about AI: “the AI is the new electricity” (Andrew NG), “whoever cracks AI will rule the world” (Vladimir Putin), “the development of full AI could spell the end of the human race”, (Stephen Hawking), and “the risk of something seriously dangerous happening is in the five-year timeframe. 10 years at most” (Elon Musk).
There is one famous question about AI. Can AI surpass the humans in the future? In my humble opinion, I don`t think so. It is because humans are the best creatures that God had ever created. However, the AI will have a big impact on our lives. It can destroy or assists us in the future, depends on who controls it and how we use it.
